I've been working on finishing up a few little projects around the house before I dive into some new ones. Mostly just cleaning, purging and organizing. I filled a large garbage bag last night with toys from the play room {shhhh...don't tell Millie the pack rat}. Thankfully it was a black bag so she was none the wiser when we made our deposit at the Goodwill this morning. Just for fun I thought I'd share a couple of the projects that have been in "the works" for some time now. I think the below before picture might have been taken in late 2008 early 2009. Okay this project took a LOOOONG time to complete but I'm so happy with my clean and organized laundry/craft room.
I love having clean counters!
No before picture but we had a big blank wall screaming for some art and really no budget for art. So, thanks to a super crafty friend I got the idea to use an old window as a frame for a chalkboard. We let Sam throw a baseball through it a few times and break out the glass. We threw some chalkboard paint on the wall {about 4 or 5 coats} and voila....wall art for about 30 bucks! I let the kiddos do some chalking but now we are using it for memorizing scripture. This weeks scripture you ask? Philippians 4:8....
The buffet below belonged to Rock's great grandmother Josephine. We've had it for about eight years and always talked about sprucing it up with some paint. I know that makes some cringe but I'm a shabby chic girl at heart and I love me some distressed paint. So we finally opted for some good ol' white paint and swapped out the hardware. I did hold onto the original knobs and pulls because they have such beautiful detail.
The new white buffet...
It fits just perfect in this little nook and it makes for great storage. Next on the "to do list" is finish painting a freebie desk from my parents shop. Maggie Lu needs a spot to do all her 4th grade homework!
And since this post is titled Just for Fun, I can't resist sharing this little clip. Do you remember this movie? Did you watch it 100 times over and over? Did you pause the movie so you could work on the cheoreography from the final dance scene? Okay, maybe too much information. (You may have to double-click to open up a wider screen).
