{Cupcakes}

Once. not so long ago I dreamed of having my own cupcake business. I LOVE to bake and I especially love baking cupcakes. For now it's not in the plans. It's still a very yummy hobby and I'm always honored when I'm asked to bake for a birthday party, wedding or other special occassion but I let that little dream go and have focused on some things that I believe are far more important and definitely eternal. But here's the coolest thing....I serve a God who has gifted me with wonderful passions and talents and He so desires that we use them for His glory. Late one night after some time in prayer, literally begging for Him to guide my steps in ways to serve  I stumbled across something pretty amazing. The opportunity to serve children imprisoned in Uganda that desperately need our help and love. Oh Lord, break my heart, you've got my attention. How can I help? Get this....by having a cupcake sale. Nope, not even kidding. Two of the things I'm most passionate about kids and cupcakes. I started reading everything I could about this incredible organization, Sixty Feet and couldn't wait to share this with a few of my close friends that I knew would jump on board with me. It gets even cooler.....before I even had the chance to share with anyone I get an e-mail the next morning from one of those friends asking if I would be interested in joining her on a cupcake sale!! Wow! God is so cool! So here we are just a little over a week away from having our cupcake sale and I couldn't be more excited about how God might use this ministry to touch hearts.  The motto of Cupcake Kids is "little people with big hearts for God and the imprisoned children of Africa." To even begin to understand the devastation these children live in please take some time to visit the Sixty Feet website and see for yourself the work that is being done there and even in the midst of such pain there is hope. I truly feel honored and privledged that I get to do something I love to do and at the same time serve these sweet children. It is a blessing for me and also for my kids, that at a young age they are learning that it's not all about them, the world is a big place marked with much suffering and as followers we are called to care for the orphan and the widow and the least of these.

If you're in the area and interested in some sweet treats leave me a comment with your e-mail and I'll let you know when and where we'll be. If you live outside of Washington, consider hosting your own cupcake sale or buying a really cool t-shirt from the great folks at Sixty Feet.
