Let's work our way backwards

Since I've got a lot of ground to cover from the past couple months I thought maybe the easiest way to tackle this would be to start with the most recent. So here goes. Baseball season has officially begun. Before we even had a minute to hang up the basketball jersey, the cleats and mitt were getting worn in. Thank goodness Sam has endless amounts of energy and seems happiest when he's on the go. His team has played three games {3-0} so far which I think is probably a record for this time of year. We usually can't make it a week without a rainout...which incidentally happened this evening. So begins the crazy schedule of make-up games. Even with the rainouts and unpredictability of schedules, baseball is hands down my favorite to watch. Well, maybe soccer is. No baseball. Hmmm...good thing we've got both going on this spring!
The girls watched the game exactly two and a half minutes before the begging and pleading started for the playground.
They won and we spent an inning swinging and climbing.

We've been blessed with a few sunny days and these
two haven't wasted a single minute of outdoor time.
Miss Mils, all smiles and no teeth.

See ya later Alligator!

Blog Worthy

We had a couple of events happen around our house that I've deemed worthy of a second post today. Sam had his first ski lesson and loved every minute of it! One of the many awesome benefits of homeschool is the freedom and help with funding these kind of adventures. I'm so thankful to my homeschool partner who worked out all the details and will be taking the boys up! He had a blast and can't wait to go again!
 And little miss finally lost that front tooth that's just been dangling there for days! We were hoping she'd lose her first tooth on her birthday but she just missed it! She was wiggling and wiggling it in the bathroom and then came back to the bedroom and asked Maggie to yank it. Thankfully it didn't require much yanking. I can't believe how losing that one tiny tooth changes her little face so much.
It won't be long before that other one is gone too!

The big brother

I have learned so much in my 12 years being Sam's mom. Lessons that have not always come easy but so worth it. He is, and always has been, a constant source of energy. We have so many things in common. Both nightowls, quick to anger and even quicker to see the error of our ways (okay, maybe I'm not always that quick), he already shares a love for running and when there's a sad movie..pass us the tissue cause we're the cry babies in the family. He cried the day we told him he was going to have a third sister.
I can't imagine him without his sidekick now. He adores the girls and can even become a bit irritating to them in his quest for hugs and snuggles. In the past few months we've had more time together than we've had in years. I honestly could not be more thankful. I have loved every minute of our time and I feel so blessed that we have the opportunity to learn and grow together. 12 years ago, he made me a mama and I count that as one of my most treasured blessings!

{12}

{12} as in the years my son turns today. Ugh! Ready or not, the boy is growing up. We've been watching  home movies the past couple days. I could watch them for hours. What am I talking about? I do watch them for hours.We giggle and point out funny moments and I choke back the tears as the memories flood in. People always say "don't blink because they'll be grown up before you know it". It's true. He really was just this little guy cracking us up with his silliness and raspy little voice. Jumping, climbing, flying off everything and shooting us with his imaginary spider webs. But slowly over time they change and morph into these young people trying to find exactly where they fit in. Tonight I was reminded of how young and fragile he still is. My happy-go-lucky kiddo had a tough practice. So hard for this mama to watch him wipe away the tears and then walk to the car with him while he shrugs me off. I'm learning if I'm quiet for long enough eventually he'll talk, maybe even share some of the frustrations and tears and I'm more than happy to hug, rub his back and remind him of what a treasure he is. And it's so reassuring to know that all is well in his world after a pep talk with mom and a lime slurpee. Maybe having a 12 year old won't be so tough. Happy 12th Birthday to our original monkey! You have made life so much richer for us Sammy and we love you to pieces!
