Big Kids in the City

One item left on our "Summer Fun List" was to take the big kiddos kayaking on Lake Union. We've been pushing it back all summer for one reason or another and finally today...five days before school starts we made it to the city for some lunch and kayaking. It was a perfect day to be in Seattle.
We found a fun sandwich and gyro shop in Fremont where we could sit outside and enjoy the sun and the sights.
My partner! Rock and I have been kayaking a couple times but he has always been the one steering the ship. I must admit it took me some time to get the hang of it. I felt like Sam and I were just getting our rhythm when it was time to head back to shore.
The Dad and daughter boat.

And of course a post wouldn't be complete without some scenic shots. The water was so choppy and rough that I had a really hard time holding the camera still.

So thankful for this wonderful day with them. Maggie said frequently throughout the afternoon "it feels so weird without the little girls." It did and I normally insist on having all my little chicks together but I also know it's important that we have this special time doing "big kid" things with them. We very rarely have that and I really did love having a day in the city with my big kids!
