This past week the kids and I had a blast spending our mornings at Vacation Bible School. They were such troopers getting up early each morning to be at church by 8:15{at least that was our goal}. It wasn't too hard to get them moving though because they truly love VBS. Our church has a fun tradition of wrapping up the week with what we call Celebration Sunday. After worship service our church family heads outside for a barbecue and lots of fun activites for the kids. Horseback riding, tractor rides, bounce houses, carnival games and even a dunk tank.
Even though the weather was a bit chilly and overcast it didn't put a damper on the festivities. Early in the week Sam had asked if he could volunteer for the dunk tank. When it came time for him to climb up into that wet seat I sensed a little regret. I think he was counting on that hot sun being out but he was a trooper and kept a smile through the torture.
Maggie was eager to get a shot at her brother!

Oh forget it...this works much better!
Millie learned quick!
My shivering boy! Don't worry, we got him warmed up quick.
Even Pastor George was a good sport and took a little beating in the dunk tank!
It was a good day. My heart was so full looking around at our church family enjoying the company of one another. Our church has been through so much in the past several years and quite honestly there have been times we've struggled to stay. But it was this family that kept us here...all the people that have stood by us and stood up when we asked for their support in raising our children. Friends that have cried with us, laughed with us and prayed for us. We are so thankful for each and every one of them. There is a new feeling of hope and peace in our church and we are so excited to see where God leads us. Today was a day to celebrate!
We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5:3-5
