Painted eggs and toes

We had a great time coloring eggs the night before Easter. This was Amelia's first time participating in the festivities and she loved it! She couldn't get to the eggs fast enough and in about 3 minutes flat all 24 eggs were colored and beautiful. Well maybe not beautiful but definitely colorful. We were just missing Auntie Kristen and Uncle Ry. They joined us last year and this time around the kids kept saying "it's just not the same without auntie and uncle." Okay, lesson learned plan ahead and invite auntie and uncle.

Sunday morning the kiddos were up early ready to hunt down their Easter baskets. We had a great morning of digging through baskets, breakfast all together and a few reminders of what this wonderful holiday is all about. I love the tradition of filling their baskets and their excitement in finding them but I never want that to take away from the reason we celebrate Easter. After a fun morning we headed to church. It was an extra special day at church since Auntie Kristen and Uncle Ry joined us and also Auntie Stacy, Uncle Doug, Madi and Jack were there. It was so great to see them and have a few moments to catch up. I'm sad to say that with busy schedules we don't see them nearly as much as we'd like to. We were so grateful for the much needed visit and hugs!!

The monkeys before church
After church we headed home to give Millie a nap and then we enjoyed a nice afternoon at my grandma and papa Daceys. The weather didn't quite hold up so we held the annual egg hunt inside but that didn't seem to bother the kids one bit. It was a great day with family, good fun, good food and of course the good news of our Savior.

A couple nights ago Rocky was working late and I was trying to get everybody to bed. Usually when Rocky's home he takes on the Millie duties while I help Sam and Maggie get their teeth brushed and then I take turns reading with each of them. On this particular night I was trying to make things as easy as possible so I told the kids we'd all have to read together and they'd just have to join in on whatever book I was reading to the other one. I read Maggie's book first and moved onto Sam's. Most of the time I was reading Millie was content to sit on the floor and look through books on her own. Sometime after I started reading Sam's book she wandered off. I wasn't paying too close attention as I was deep in the world of Narnia (Sam and I are reading Prince Caspian). Maggie decided she would go check on Millie and came back very shortly yelling "mom, you have to get in the bathroom, Millie is trying to paint her toes"! I raced to the bathroom to find her not painting but dumping nail polish all over her feet. There was pink everywhere. As I cried out "no, no" this only made her dump faster. She was determined to get her toes pretty! I quickly started to clean up and I put her on the counter with her feet in the sink. I was about half way through cleaning her feet when I just had to laugh. She was just so proud of herself and talking up a storm about her toes. I decided to leave the rest of the polish on her feet and toes-we needed a little something to show daddy later! I'm just thankful she did it on the cheap linoleum and not the carpet!

Sitting so proud as I clean her feet!
This was after a good bit of cleaning!
